Faulty gcode or incorrect settings?

Hello all,

I'm just getting started in the 3d printing world and I think I'm doing quite well, except for sometimes that when my printer starts printing it makes a strange sound from the extruder and over extrudes and under extrudes fillament. At first it sounded like fillament grinding in the extruder but when I sliced again with different profile settings it worked fine. I haven't still figured out what option messes up the print. I'm comparing working and non-working gcodes to find out where the problem is. My printer is a core xy, Two Trees Sapphire pro and I use Cura 4.7.1 and 4.8 versions. I'm attaching a picture of how the first layer comes up when this problem occurs. I also attach the last faulty gcode file. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.

Instead of the Gcode it is better to attach the Project-File, then we have not only the item but also your printer settings... attach a project-file that is correct and one that doesn't work...

For comparing Gcode you could use a program like NotePad++...

What material are U using? PLA? PETG? ABS?

I don't think the Two Trees Sapphire pro printer is in the list of printers support by Cura. Which printer model did you select when slicing in Cura?

    What diameter is your nozzle?

    M82 ;absolute extrusion mode
G21 ; set units to millimeters
    G90 ; use absolute positioning
    M82 ; absolute extrusion mode
    M104 S185 ; set extruder temp
    M140 S60 ; set bed temp
    M190 S60 ; wait for bed temp
    M109 S185 ; wait for extruder temp
    M83 ; Relative extrusion mode
G28; home all without mesh bed level

Did you create this startup code? I can't find this in one of the existing printer models.

It looks weird with 2 times the M82 code, you only need one. The M83 looks like an error and will mess up your extrusion (extruding way too much).

This code came up from cura with the settings I applied. I didn’t change anything manually. My printer is not in the default printers in cura but company says that it supports cura. I will delete M83 and see what happens. Thank you.

I will attach the profiles. I’m using PLA for now. Thank you for the reply.

OK, I solved the issue by enabling relative extrusion. I didn't know what it was for so I disabled it.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
