Ultimaker Cura 4.8 Not Responding

I've updated the Cura software to 4.8, now the software loads and then opens to a blank white window. As soon as it opens to this window, it is immediately in a "not responding" state. I have to force close the program via the task manager.

I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall the software, I've uninstalled and deleted all possible related folders/files from the computer and reinstalled. I've tried running Ultimaker Cura in compatibility mode and as an administrator. My end result is always the same, a blank not responding screen.

I am running Win10 and my system specs are

• Processor: i9-9900k
• Ram: 32GB G-Skill Trident Z
• GPU: Asus ROG NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
• Mobo: Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming

I should be able to run this no problem, does anyone have any ideas how to get this to work again?

Thanks.

Do you use multiple displays? If so, try disabling all but one of them temporarily. If Cura starts succesfully with a single monitor, go to the General preferences and uncheck the "Restore window position on start". Then you can re-enable the other screens, and Cura should always open on your primary screen.

I'm running 4 monitors, this did the trick! I unplugged all but 1 monitor and Cura opened normally. I was then able to access the menus and do as you stated. It seems to be working fine now. Thank you very much!!

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
