I want to install TinkerGnome on my UM2+ printer. And this because I read that this gives more possibilities.
I downloaded the correct version but can't install it because cura doesn't see the printer.
Do I need to install any special equipment on my PC (work with a Mac and Big Sur OS)?
Thank you in advance.
In the meantime I've already looked into why it can't connect but don't come any further.
Tried the following things today but also no connection:
Older PC mer WiN7, but no success, a message "unrecognized device" but no comport. Also tried another (read older) version of Cura but also no connection. Then installed Arduino IDE in order to have correct drivers for the printer but also not working. Then took a more recent PC with WIN10 and got the same result. Cannot connect to the printer. Also tried several usb cables but didn't solve the problem and this while I know that the different cables (3 pieces) do make a connection with a normal printer.
Anyone have an idea how to find a solution to update?

You need an USB connection, so we should look into it, why it is not working. Strange is that you already tried different PCs and different cables.

@tinkergnome Do you have more ideas?

Yeah, even under windows I don't see in the devices the port when connecting the usb.

When I switch off the printer I see a "unrecognized device" and switching on then it disappears.

    Very strange....

I would understand if it is only not working with the Mac (depending what you are using) because I had problems connection another printer with my Macbook because the USB-C adapter was not working. Another Macbook with normal USB was ok.

Maybe the USB port of the printer isn't well connected to the printer board? Or the the port is dirty?

Have also a Mac mini with normal USB ports, because MacBook Pro has only usb-c ports and will try later on with the mini. Will come back to topic if (not)successfully.

The arduino drivers are responsible to create the (virtual) COM port. If this does not work, there's no point to proceed with different Cura versions or any other software.

Are you absolute certain that there's a genuine Ultimaker board in this printer? (most "clones" need different drivers)

The Arduino forum advocates against USB 3 ports and cables, that's perhaps worth a try? The USB-cable that came with the printer would be my first choice.

This is a original Ultimaker and no clone. Will read the link and let you know if I come any further.

    Thanks.
