Having some issue with the PauseAtHeight.py in that, after slicing, printing either via OctoPrint or TF Card, the Ender 3Pro fails to pause and completes the print.

What has been tried:

Versions of CURA:

  • 4.8
  • 4.5
  • 3.6 (per YouTube video on topic.

Ender 3Pro

  • Board: 32b - 4.2.2
  • Firmware Version:
    • Marlin-bugfix-2.0. (compiled)

I am curious if there is anything else I could attempt.  I have reviewed the gCode, and the code is there.  I would think that rolling back the firmware and bypassing the OctoPrint it should have paused during the print.

Do you have a color TFT display on the printer?  There have been issues with Enders with 4.4.x boards and TFT displays ignoring gcode commands that send messages to the display.  M0, M1, and M117 are the problems.  M0 is the pause code that Cura uses for Marlin firmware and it sends "Click to Resume..." to the display,  There was a poster here who claimed that a firmware switch fixed the problem but then that poster disappeared without explaining what firmware version fixed the issue.

I tried to find out more on the Marlin Github site.  It was apparent that they aren't happy with Creality altering the firmware to suit themselves and then refusing to make it open source.  There are a couple of versions of firmware available on the Creality site and I think there is a TFT display version for your 4.2.2 board.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

No, This is the simple LCD, non touch screen.

I may have not followed good ‘IT’ troubleshooting procedures.  I altered to many things at one time..

I went back after the fact and tried the print again.  Even so far as to ensure the pause at height command was entered.  Also, sent the print via OctoPrint.

While i could not click to resume On the Ender, (Ender Jog Wheel) it did indeed pause when the resume was selected on OctoPrint.  It was late enough that I didn’t have time to spin my compiled firmware back into the mix - something for tonight or this weekend.

In the past, I have not needed to compile my own firmware.  So that was something new for me to work with.   I’ll likely install the version. I compiled and repeat the testing process.

I don't know and I truly hope I never have to find out.  Try posting a question on the GitHub site.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
