Hollow box with inner and outer wall

Posted · Hollow box with inner and outer wall

This is the first time I've ever used the 3D printer or cura on our site. I am trying to 3d print a small box with no lid, and no bottom, where the infill is only between the inner and outer walls. However, the machine keeps printing a small ring around the outside where the outer wall is, and then infilling everything inside the inner wall. Any thought how to stop this happening?

    Hi James,

you can solve this problem very easy. Make your box with a lid. You need the file of the Box and the file of the lid.

Load both into cura, click the right mouse button, mark all objects and merge them.

Then you should be able to print it.

@jevans_98 can you post a screen shot of what you are talking about?

Also please share your project file: go to menu "file" "save...".  The resulting file contains not only your STL but the scaling, positioning.  Also it has your machine (printer) settings, your material settings, your profile used, and settings that you overrode.  Please post that here.

Ouch!  Anything red in xray view is a serious problem.  Those need to be fixed in CAD.  There shouldn't be anything red.  @jevans_98 - are you using sketchup?  What cad software are you using.  I have articles helping you to make sketchup models manifold but don't want to show you if you are using something else.
