Hello, I have a profile that I cant figure out why I'm getting stringing. This basically happened since I had to enable "Fill gaps everywhere" because my walls were in two pieces instead of one piece. Below is my settings im using and an image today of a box im printing that has strings all in the inside. Im using an Ender 3 V2 with Hatchbox PLA

    Funny - I was thinking 4mm retraction is too much for such a short bowden.  If you retract too much then air can get in the print head and cause over extrusion and later underextrusion.  You want the minimum retraction that relieves pressure.

     

    It's hard to tell in the photo but that looks pretty thin - extra thin stringing is extra hard to get rid of in settings and extra easy to remove.  10 seconds with your fingers and then apply a flame to that area of the part for about 1/8th of a second and the strings all retract into the walls magically.  Try it!

     

    If you want zero stringing - one way is to lower the speed by about half.  Try 30mm/sec for ALL the printing speeds.  So decide: Do you want to save 60 minutes by printing faster and then have to clean up some strings (20 seconds) at the end?  Or do you want to print 60 minutes slower but not have to spend 20 seconds cleaning up strings.  Again - try the flame.

     

    By the way, having speeds of 100, 80, and 60mm/sec for different parts of the print just seems to be asking for trouble.  Every speed change causes over or under extrusion.

    It is very very thin and yes it only takes a a few min to clean so I guess ill stick with it. What's weird is I do a stringing tower and there is no stringing and the tower is exceptional BUT when I print the box in the photo I get the hairs.

     

    Is there a profile out there I can try similar to mine?

    It's well possible that there are errors in the model that cause this. That's the first thing i would check. Can you share the stl file here or is it somehow confidential?

     

    If you enable travel lines in the preview - are there travel moves with dark blue lines displayed in those places? This would mean that there's no retraction at all (no matter of retraction distance and speed settings).
     

    Next topic to check:

    Or there are so many retractions that the maximum count (90 per 4 mm extrusion) is exceeded. I would switch the combing mode back on to avoid the latter. The max. distance without retraction is already set to 5mm - this should work fine with this box.

     

    In short: always thoroughly check the preview before you actually print something.

    Meshmixer reports a small problem in this corner, but that's not related to the missing retractions higher up.

    If you choose "File -> Save As..." in Cura you'll get a *.3mf project file. This contains all Cura settings as well. If the other suggestions from above do not help - upload the project file here, so that anyone who wants can have a closer look.

    I gave up on that profile and messed with the standard a little to get a faster print. Seems to be just fine now using the attached profile.

    I downloaded this config file and tried to import it and it tells me that it is a corrupted file?

    Has anyone else experienced this as well?
