Hello,

I'm trying to make a silicone mold from my 3D printing piece. However the top layer of my printing has visible circular stripes and so the silicone mold also has these stripes (which is pretty ugly). Does anyone know how to eliminate or reduce these stripes? I tried severals options in Cura but it didn't change much.

Thank you for all your help! Have a nice day you all.

That's basically stair stepping due to layer lines. Easiest way to get rid of it is to change the orientation of the print, but that will probably lead to supports. Or there is a method out there called non-linear printing, but it involves digging into the g-code.

In Cura there is a thing called "Use Adaptive Layers" in the experimental section. You can search for it in the search bar or go to preferences and check the box to make sure it is easily found. I have all my settings exposed to make finding things easier meself.

    Hope this helps 🙂

PI has been taken to a 31.4 trillion decimal places with no end in sight.  For us in 3D printing, that means there will always be steps and circles will always have facets.

So I'm driving across Texas on a lovely day and I stop for gas.  It happens to be a full service station and the fella comes out to pump the gas.  I've been staring at the same scenery for 5 or 6 hours and I mentioned "Wow, is it ever flat here." to which he replied:

'Yep.  If you stare in any direction long enough you'll see the back of your own head."

I like that one.  Science in the middle of nowhere.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
