Cura 4.9 will freeze while loading on "initializing build volume", also reported on /topic/36785-cura-49-freezing-at-initializing-build-volume/

The problem is with ultimaker account sigh in

Fix is to delete the row "ultimaker_auth_data = ..." from cura.cfg and re sing in on application launch

Then wouldn't it have made sense to reply in that thread?

Thanks, this worked perfectly! It also preserved my profiles, so bonus.

For those like me struggling to find the config files when Cura won't start, look for %APPDATA%\cura\4.9

The first post in this thread outlines the way to fix this issue.

Once you have fixed it, a way to prevent the issue from happening is not logging in to an Ultimaker account, or making sure Cura can access the internet.

No it isn't. This is happening to me on just about 1/2 cura startups on 4.10. Delete config line > starts up fine > log in > locks up again > delete > works > log in > hangs again.

    Rinse & repeat indefinitely

At least one bug was fixed. It could be that there is another bug. But to fix that, we need logs.

Feel free to tell me how to get them or which ones. But it'll be pretty hard to get startup logs if it hangs on startup.

    Not without logs.

    See https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/#logging-issues

It looks like you are having a different issue than the topic starter, because that issue was specific to Cura 4.9.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
