How does the user experience of bed leveling and nozzle height setting differ between the UM3 and other printers that use ABL? is it just that it is more precise or will I actually be doing less manual leveling with the UM3 than I would be with most other printers with ABL? Thanks!

Not sure if I understood your question correctly, but with the active leveling from UM3 you don't need to manual level your bed. Maybe just the first time after unboxing, but then the active leveling takes care about that.

But I cannot speak about other brands, I only have UM printers.

Thats the purpose of the active leveling, it measures the distance between the bed and the nozzle on several points and uses these distance values to compensate the distance during printing the first few layers.

So there is no need to do or touch anything.

And due to the reason the UM3 uses print cores and your are not able to use just a nozzle you buy somewhere, the nozzle has always the same height and distance within the print core.
