Ive been looking at 3D printers recently and have finally decided to buy one, mainly as i can justify it now for prototyping things rather than just printing random stuff :)

Ive done a bit research and was torn between the Ultimaker 2 and the CubeX/Pro, the resolution and speed were big factors for the Ultimaker and the print envelope of the CubeX was also very tempting. Ive now made my decision after watching some reviews about both and im going to be buying the Ultimaker, The print envelope wasnt enough to overlook its other flaws where as i didnt find many bad things to say about the Ultimaker. Hopefully i will have made the right decision

A bit about me, My names James and im from Chester-le-Street in Durham, im 29 and im a CNC Setter/Engineer by trade, i also do CAD Design mainly as a hobby but id like to get into it professionally if possible, I use Solidworks at the moment and will be making my models for printing with it hopefully. Mainly i will be printing prototype parts for use on my car/s which ill then machine once the prototype is a sucess, but will also be printing parts to hopefully make a little bit of money with.

What programs do people recommend i get or will solidworks suffice?

Thanks

James
