Original Ultimaker - How to contol?

I purchased a second hand Original  - it came without the controller. I never noticed this before I bought it but the owner said it worked fine.

So, I have no idea how to load filamant, change cartridges etc without that feedback.

And, what slicing software do I use?

The guy I bought it off is not answering my emails, so I'm stuck and how to solve these issues.

I've watched YT video, but I can't find a single one that shows the printer being used without a controller.

I'd appreciate dome help please - thank you all.

The Ultimaker originally came without a controller, and for a period the controller was sold as an optional accessory for the Ultimaker (before it was even called the Ultimaker Original). It would typically be connected and controlled via USB.

 

Changing filament can be done by preheating the extruder (on the Monitor tab in Cura), then opening the extruder on the printer and gently pulling out the material. You can then replace the spool, and feed new material in.

 

Another good option to check out is using OctoPrint, which integrates well into Cura by using a plugin from the Marketplace.
