For a non-Ultimaker printer it's likely something in your StartUp Gcode. Post a problem Gcode file here.
To check for yourself, go to Manage Printers and Machine Settings and check the StartUp Gcode. After the G28 homing move the nozzle should move to put the purge lines down on the left, or move directly to start the skirt/brim/raft. There should not be a G0 or G1 move to the midpoint.
