SOLVED Problem Manual Levelling Ultimaker 3

I'm having some issues with the Ultimaker 3 at work. It was working fine, but today I needed to do a print with support. I loaded the PVA into printhead 2 and now it won't level.

 

Active levelling fails.

 

Manual levelling won't work, as the first stage I can't complete. It says to move the screws until the bed is 1mm from the nozzle. But the bed is positioned over 10mm from the nozzle, and there just isn't enough thread on the screws to do this. The thumbscrews detach from the bed before I get there.

 

I have done a factory reset with the associated updates to v5.3.0 and now I'm at a loss.

 

Any ideas how to proceed? It there a way to reset the z-axis so that it tries to do the levelling closer to the head?

During manual leveling - the 1mm thing should be done by turning the computer dial.  Not the screws.  Also if you have leveled the printer ever and not totally taken apart the bed then you can probably skip the 1mm part.  I just go click click click and skip those.  It's just to keep the nozzle from hitting the clips.

Note that PVA needs to be kept very dry.  30% humidity is too high.  a few little packets of desiccant won't help.  I have about a cup of desiccant (1/4 liter) and have to recharge the desiccant every month.  "ruined" PVA can be restored by heating it but read about the process.

Thank you. I never noticed that it said dial, rather than screws. That did it.
