Problem with first layer in Super Quality

I have an Ender 3 V2 with CR Touch Auto Bed Leveling Sensor and stock firmware

I can print standard quality with eSun PLA+ but I have big problems with Super Quality on getting a solid first layer.
My understanding is that the first layer is supposed to be 0.2mm which is what the Standard Quality uses, then prints 0.12mm for subsequent layers.

Watching the Z height on the display as it goes, when it does the nozzle clearing by printing a line on the left, Z height shows 0.3.  But when it then goes to start the print with a skirt, Z shows 0.1 which gives me grief with the bed level test print not sticking to the bed even at the beginning.
However like I said, printing in standard quality does work but for that, it keeps the print layer size at 0.2 throughout the print whereas the super-quality seems to switch to the lower print layer size too soon.

Any ideas?

I unfortunately hadn't tested printing Super Quality with the sample PLA that came with the printer.

The "Super Quality" profile for the Ender-3/Ender-3 V2 sets a .12mm initial layer by default:

You can always change it yourself if you need a thicker initial layer for adhesion or whatever.
