Hey @mulawi

Welcome to the Ultimaker Community 🎉

I split of your issue from the old thread because I'm not sure if it's related.

Can you share some screenshots of what you are seeing?
Are you trying to change the materials that come with Cura like Generic or Ultimaker materials or did you create a new material?

I can not find a way to change the cost of material either , using any material for example generic pla. earlier versions of cura, it was easy to fill this in  or modify it. Now it is not allowing  changes. PLease inform of the method to be used to modify this value

    Hey @dirtyoledog,

Welcome to the Ultimaker Community 🎉

If you go to your material in Preferences, Materials
You can change the Filament Cost and Filament Weight.
If you slice with that material, it shows up in your estimation.

Is this the information you are looking for?

    Hey @HavanaMoss,

Welcome to the Ultimaker Community 🎉

Can you check for me if you can alter settings in your material once you clicked Activate after clicking the hamburger in the top right?

    Hi! Thank's for your answer!

Unfortunately not, i can't. However i found that i have to duplicate the profile and edit the new one.

I think that cura doesn't want to let the user change the default value on the material profile provided by the software. If you want to change some value you have to create a custom profile from the default one. Is this the normal procedure?

    Hey @HavanaMoss,

You are correct. You cannot change the default materials, you'll have to duplicate them first.
If you duplicate the material, please take care that you make the Material Type match any of the generic material types exactly. (so no PLA+ or TPU)

A little birdy told met that you also cannot change a material if it's active in another printer. So if you have multiple printers loaded in Cura, make sure that they do not have the material you want to edit active. That could maybe also be the cause of your trouble.

    Good luck and happy printing!

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.

      • Ultimaker Cura 5.6 stable released
Cura now supports Method series printers!

A year after the merger of Ultimaker and MakerBotQQ, we have unlocked the ability for users of our Method series printers to slice files using UltiMaker Cura. As of this release, users can find profiles for our Method and Method XL printers, as well as material profiles for ABS-R, ABS-CF, and RapidRinse. Meaning it’s now possible to use either Cura or the existing cloud-slicing software CloudPrint when printing with these printers or materials
