Multicolor slice weird behavior

Hi,

 

I am recently in posession of an ultmaker printer with material station and work with Cura Enterprise 4.13.2. When I do a testprint something strange happens. I slice a multicolor object and after slicing the first layer is multicolor, the second only one color, thirth layer multicolor and so on.

I can't find any setting which can cause this?

 

 

 

 

Anyone an idea?

Load the model and set Cura up to slice.  Then use the "File | Save Project" command to create a 3mf project file.  Post the 3mf file here.  Somebody will look at it but it will probably be on Monday.

Uncheck the cura feature: remove mesh intersection

 

Basically when you model things like this, Cura expects you to subtract those letters from the block.  But you didn't.  So you asked cura to print both at the same time.  So it has to make decisions.  Note that you also had alternate mesh removal so that was why you saw the issue every other layer.

 

So ideally you will create models that don't overlap but it's not a big deal in this case.

Oh wait!  That doesn't work either.  It is printing BOTH in the same spot.  Hold on...

Okay so short of fixing your "block" model I think your best bet is to just do it how you did it originally.  At least you will be able to read the letters "test".  Internal layers aren't visible anyway so maybe it's fine.

 

But the "correct" answer is to have you model the "block" part properly where the letters are subtracted out of it.

There aren't any cavities in the block so the models are overlapping each other.

@3dsolutionsBelgium You will need to do as Gr5 says and go back to CAD.  Make copies of the letters, "subtract" the letters from the block, and then put the copies into the cavities when you open the files in Cura.

To make the letters "crisper" use the Per Model settings and set the Walls / Wall Line Count to 1 and the Top/Bottom Extra Skin Wall Count to 0 for just the letters themselves.
