Layer pattern options

It seems that layers are rotated 90°. However, research suggests that helicoids are going to be stronger. If there are 4 layers on the bottom of a print, would it be possible to have a helicoid option where each layer is rotated 45°? Has anyone tried something like this?

45 degrees sounds much too much if you want a helicoid.  Maybe 1 degree rotation?

Also stronger in compression forces?  Or tension forces?  Usually the issue is tension and usually the best way to increase strength is to make the walls thicker.
