That fixed the issue, thank you!
I modelled everything using Fusion 360 and double checked that the body was flat before saving it as an stl file, but I still had to click lay flat for Cura to add brims, what could be the issue here?

Fusion is certainly one of the better modeling programs. If the model was canted at just a slight angle you may not have noticed when you were working on it, but a computer notices and Cura just goes to work without considering that the angle was 0.1°. Now you know what to look for though. It's more of a problem with downloaded models than things you will create yourself.
If you don't have your sketch plane square to the world when you draw your base shape, you can end up with angles you hadn't anticipated or wanted.

It might be that the rectangular part isn't completely touching the build plate. There isn't any brim around that back side and the edges of the brim that is there are rounded. That might be fooling Cura. If you rotate the view so you are looking up through the build plate, you might see an area that isn't touching.
Load that rectangular part and use the "Save Project" command and then post the resulting 3mf file here and somebody will look at it.
