Unable to get 5.5.0 to start up - just closes after 'Updating Configuration' on splash screen

I have 5.3.0 working OK, I decided to try 5.5.0 to see what the speed upgrades are like.

Installed it as complete (tried both MSI and exe files). It does not start up, just closes after updating configuration on splash screen

I have a 4 monitor system. - I disabled 3 monitors, and again no difference.

I installed the latest NVidia RTX driver, and no difference

I tried installing the application in its own directory on C:\ - no effect. I tried enable long file names in Win, no effect

I uninstalled 5.3.0, and reinstalled 5.5.0, nothing. I tried 5.4.0 and same thing - stops

I reinstalled 5.3.0, and that works as originally

I am running latest Win 11, with an RTX4090 - all graphics card settings are default.

Any ideas, thanks

Some extra points - the log file is created and then disappears as the application closes (so no log file is present). It is running on a 4K monitor, I tried changing the DPI settings to override on the properties/Compatibility tab of the application, but that had no effect. Running iun Windows 8 Comp mode - no effect. No difference running as administrator either (forgot to mention that before)

I renamed the cura.cfg -to cura.cfg.old -  it did not make a difference

I renamed the user directory in the %APPDATA%/cura/5.5.0 directory to user.old, and that WORKED

    It RAN

Not sure how many settings I am losing, but I can reload a project, and that has many of the settings already identified.

If it's just the user directory, that's usually just whatever printers you have set up. I can't remember if that covers what quality profiles are assigned to each printer, but if any are missing try going to Preferences > Configure Cura > Profiles, there's an import button in the top right, your quality profiles are stored in the quality_changes subfolder.

And if that's the only directory you had to rename, it probably means there was a conflict between a printer you had set up and an updated definition for it in 5.5.
