When opening Cura 5.6 the machine and build plate for the selected printer does not show?

When opening Cura 5.6 the machine and build plate for the selected printer does not show?  I have to uninstall Cura and reinstall and the machine will show for one use only, when close and re-open the machine and build plate are not visible....  I am sure this has to be user error  :-)

Thanks for any advice.

The printer build plate, and it's callout in the definition file, are part of the definition package that was submitted to UltiMaker.

What printer are we talking about?

On one hand, that seems more likely, since there's no way Cura should change the definition file to remove the mesh and/or texture for the plate.

On the other hand, there's nothing you should be able to do in Cura that will change it to remove those either, unless you go messing about with files manually..

If you could do a clean reinstall, add your printer (so you can see the machine), slice something (anything really), then close Cura, open it again (which should mean the machine mesh is missing), slice something (anything really), close Cura and upload the cura.log file from %APPDATA%\cura\5.6\ then we can see if there's anything in there that looks suspect.

Greg, I am adding the Artillery Sidewinder X-1.

Slasshee, I do not know enough to mess with any files, lol.  I have been doing a regular uninstall.  I will try the clean uninstall that you suggest..... Fingers crossed.

    Thank you both

The Sidewinder has been around for a bit and I don't recall any problem like this.  The files are in your installation or it wouldn't show up at all.

FYI the build plate file is "artillery_swx1.stl" and it's in the "C:\Program Files\UltiMaker Cura 5.6.0\share\cura\resources\meshes" folder.

As Slashee says, there isn't anything that is user configurable here.  The definition file tells Cura which platform to load and there are a couple of numbers that tell Cura where to put it.

I'd be very surprised if it was a Sidewinder problem and not a Cura problem.

@Planodave: After you do a clean reinstall and see if it works, you should submit a bug report. Even if it works after the clean reinstall it's worth reporting because it shouldn't have happened in the first place. And if it doesn't work after the clean reinstall, that's worth knowing to help hunt down where the bug is.

Still no joy  😞  Will submit a bug report.

    Thank for the help.
