Posted · Cura integration with Spoolman

Spoolman is an open source, self-hosted service for managing filament as it's being used. Here's the github link for it: https://github.com/Donkie/Spoolman

I'm interested in creating an extension for Cura that populates the materials list with the data from Spoolman. Spoolman keeps track of a number of a different parameters for filament, including many of the ones found in Cura.

I'm interested in creating a plugin for Cura that allows integration with Spoolman, primarily to pull in the Spoolman ID of the filament being selected so that the info can be embedded into a macro which can be read by klipper-based printers to enable them to automatically select the right material to subtract from spoolman. I'm looking at the information for developing a plugin, but I'm a bit lost on exactly where I should be looking to integrate with - I know that generally, I'd be intercepting/acting-on-the-event when Cura populates the materials panel, but I'd like some guidance/advice if anyone has it.

Yep, I've taken a look at the documentation and was able to get a sample extension working. I am looking for more direction specifically for "injecting" materials into the materials list from the result of an API call.

In the meantime I'll try to grok the "ContainerStack" concept a bit more.
