Hi there,

Was wondering if anyone is able to help me troubleshoot an issue I'm having.
I was reading and believe that hot end fan should turned on after 40 degrees.

However, my Hot End Fan is not switching on even when my nozzle temperature is up till 230 degrees.

I've check the connection and unplug the quick connect for the fan and measure the voltage across the pin when my nozzle temp is about 60 degrees in which the value to be only 1.36V.

When I supply a 5V independently to the fan, it got switch on. So I'm pretty sure its not a fan fault.

My question is that, does it meant that my power supply from the motherboard is faulty in this case?

Everything else seems to work just fine except the hot end fan.

Do I have to change the entire board just for my hot end fan to work? If so, anybody have any links for a motherboard replacement for my UM2+.

Thank you. In need of your advices.

It could be the main board, but it could also be an issue with the cable that runs between the fan and the main board--it's easy to damage the cables there. Have you checked those out?

Have you recently taken anything apart at the main board? Is it possible the orange and blue fan cable is not plugged into the right port?  https://support.fbrc8.com/hc/en-us/articles/25226314830619-I-Installed-the-Extrusion-Upgrade-Kit-Now-My-Printer-Doesn-t-Work#“nofanconnector

I've did physically check on the cables and seems to be alright.
Is there a proper way to check if the cables are in good condition?

I did take apart the fan power connector from the main board when i was troubleshooting but i was carefully sure to put everything back where they belong.

I might have screw up my motherboard while i was touching it.

Do you have any linked where i can get a replacement motherboard for my UM2+

One common failure for the front fan is in the cabling just above the print head.  Where it's not too hard to slide up the black sheathing and look at the wires and check for loose wires.

If you really have 1.36V and not 0V then the wiring is probably fine.  Another common failure is the transistor that turns the fan on and not.

There are schematics for this.  If you are good at soldering surface mount parts you could replace it.

You can indeed buy a new UM2 circuit board.  I don't know if it's worth it.  You can get a 3rd party one made in China.  I don't know how good the quality is but here's one: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803397429104.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.504aDGShDGSheN

Another solution is to just wire up the fan so that it is always connected to 5V.  There is no harm in having the fan always on.  Actually I think the transistor grounds one of the fan wires so you could just ground the wire yourself by soldering it to ground somewhere.
