Still printing after cutting mesh

I am trying to print a large model and want to make sure support will work nicely on one section that has an overhang, therefore I am trying to print just that section.  I found tutorials for using support blocker with cutting mesh and the standard 3 settings to set to zero (and turned off generate support for that section as well), but Cura is still slicing that section to print, albeit without support.  Any thoughts/help?

If you could share the Cura project file (.3mf, get it set up then go to File > Save Project) that would help.

Based on what I can see in the screenshot you have it set up right, so we'd need to dig into the project file to see where it's going haywire.

Oops, I never saved the file before I closed it and I've done a few prints in Cura since so, I don't have the settings saved 😬

Pro tip: whenever you print something in Cura (or get it ready to print, or in this case try), save the project. That way if you ever need to print it again and you've lost the gcode you can just open up the project and all the settings are perfect (or if you print it almost perfect but want to change a couple of settings, then you just need to find the ones you want to change).

Unfortunately since cutting that way seems to be working fine for me, it's hard to diagnose without having a project file that can replicate the problem. If you ever run into this problem again, go ahead and post the project file. I don't mind waiting 🙂

Also if you're running Windows, Microsoft's "3D Builder" app is actually great and among its features is being able to cut models so only the part you want is left, much easier than trying to cut it like this in Cura (just make sure not to overwrite the original file in case you want the whole thing later).
