im impressed 2.6.2 works at all under windows..
(Are you sure you are using 2.6, and not 4.6 ?)
As an alternative to printing to the USB port directly from Cura, consider using OctoPrint. You can install that on the same computer your want to run Cura 2.6 on. Printing via OctoPrint is much more stable than printing via Cura directly. You can install the OctoPrint Connection Plugin in Cura to connect Cura to OctoPrint. You will have to install a version that is compatible with your version of Cura (the current version of the OctoPrint Connection Plugin is not compatible with Cura 2.6.2, but this version is: https://github.com/fieldOfView/Cura-OctoPrintPlugin/tree/2.6)

Version 2.6.2 of Cura is over seven years old and well out of support.
Furthermore, even in newer versions of Cura, USB printing is considered obsolete and not supported. It's a leftover relic from the days when printers didn't even have enough processing power to read a file from a memory card and needed to be hand fed instructions one at a time by a computer (by emulating an >30 year old type of connection over USB).
It's not as reliable as putting gcode on a memory card (or whatever your printer takes) and can result in lower quality prints, especially on lower specification computers (if Cura would have to wait for CPU time to send a command to the printer), not to mention that if your computer crashes while you're printing, your print is kaput.
