Align to build plate

I have been using different versions of Cura for years, and am currently using v5.8.0

 

I am used to using the "Select face to align to the build plate" tool to position models which weren't square to the build plate when imported. However, recently, this has stopped working. Now it rotates the model to a position which is still not aligned to the build plate. Any ideas?

If you could post a copy of the model (or if it's problem with multiple models, a couple of examples) and a screenshot/s showing what face you're trying to align to the plate that would let us do some investigations. Unfortunately in this situation a text description isn't much to go by when I can try a few different models and it seems to be working fine.
