File Does Not Fit in Print Volume

Hello, All

I am trying to do a 3d metal print job and am encountering a problem I have never encountered prior. Let me preface this by stating I have run (unsuccessfully for unrelated reasons) this exact job before; this problem has materialized out of no where.

I have setup the job in Cura (5.8.1) and have sliced it successfully, but when I load it into the printer it gives me an error "file does not fit in print volume." The item in question is 3in x 3in x 1in and even though there is an expansion factor when printing metal, this volume is significantly below the S5 maximum. I have run this print job before and have never gotten this error, though I was on a machine that only had Cura 5.3.0

Any help would be appreciated, so please let me know what info you need me to provide to help

Printer: Ultimaker S5

Firmware: 8.3.1

Cura: 5.8.1

Hi Pizza and thanks for the response.

The problem is this is a proprietary part design and I cannot just post it here for the public. Do you have any recommendations?

Yesterday, I believe I managed to isolate the issue a little further; I took the part to a machine running Cura 5.3.0, sliced it and the printer was happy with the part so hopefully that helps to.

    Thanks again

Hey Pizza, here is a test part I made that can replicate issue:

During my making it I discovered an additional piece of information: initially I made the part with a height of .375 inches, sliced it, and the printer was happy with the part. After that I remade the part with a height of 1.250 inches (which is the height of the real part) and the printer once again gave the "does not fit in print volume " error. The height of the part is the only thing that was changed and it was changed in my CAD software, not Cura.

Hope this new info helps and thanks again!
