Shes adorable, congrats mate!

I have two of my own, aged 3 and 1, and have on several occasions used my printer to print various things related to them (its a great tool for fixing cheap plastic toys), so on top of all the happiness (and concerns), see her as another excuse to put your printer to good use :)

Hey SandervG, yes indeed I am a very proud father. I think my whole vocabulary at the moment consists of words like baby, 3d, princess, printer, so cute, modeling, tiny heartbeat, colorfab, she`s beautiful, argh my hotend is blocked, etc etc haha

Here are my two last prints, both planters as I needed some for the fablab.

The first one is quite simple

    20160118_0074.thumb.jpg.a174997c04472b2e529901f56a2e15e4.jpg

The second is more complicated as I didn't want to need a saucer for that:

    DSC09770.thumb.JPG.cd45ae446702127494bdf44ff9a2c7d6.JPG

So I modeled a ventilated drain to prevent stagnation of excess water at the bottom.

More details in my "print" section.

All the files are of course on Youmagine

Nice prints! Did you know you can also share print details in a little info card? :)

I found one of Robert's contributions on Thingiverse....a PCB Vise. I have been doing a lot of soldering of Arduino UNO shields lately and this looks very handy!

The first piece came out great using basic settings... ColorFabb PLA/PHA at 200, 40 mm/sec, 0.2 layers and bed at 60C

    IMG_0155.thumb.JPG.2afdf5e14adcf8086898a470d621a7cf.JPG

But the "claws" sort of turned into a mess. I wonder if the bed temp killed the overhangs? Or some support should've been added?

Any thoughts on that failed print?

Really have no idea, it seems like a simple straightforward print, also looks like you used the correct orientation. Speed and Temp should be fine, bridging is just a small gap. Considering the rest of the print (top) looks ok I assume the print also stayed on the bed correct.....

Any issue of a temporary blocked spool, knot in the filament?

I would say just try it again. I would use a 0.1 or 0.15 layer height to be on the safe side for good threads, but this may not be needed, and you can probably try the thread based on these failed prints.

I wonder if I should use support and print it upside down

considering the 0.2 layer, and the possible temperature deviation of the sensor, try printing a bit hotter, like 210-220 celsius (only when you stay at 0.2)

i would not change orientation, really no need, will only give you an ugly top on the part.

5th day in with our Ultimaker 2+Extended

I modeled the Ghostbusters Firehouse last night, and did this small 1 1/2 x 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 test print of it. Shown with a standard sized hotwheels for scale.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
