This is not the latest print, no time to post everything, but one I like:

Printed frame for broken mirror:

Some explanations in french on the fablab site (with more pictures, that make the whole process undertandable I think):

Ok, I'll give it a try to post something in this thread to keep it alive. We will see if this does make sense for the future.

    Latest project:

Casting mold for a rubber seal for a mast of a sailing boat. We did this before but by covering a milled core with layers and layers of natural rubber. Problem was that this material is not UV stable and starts to get brittle over the years. So as a new trial we decided to make a mold and to cast this from 2K Silicone based rubber.

Unfortunately the dimensions of the mold exceeded the building space of the UM2 to it had to be divided in parts. 6 parts for the outer mold, 4 parts for the core. Total printing time about 150 h, material is Firetruck-Red PLA from Fabberdashery.

Some of my latest playing with catch123, a photo of a mate. I've recently started going ultra cheap on my use of plastic, but the ultimaker seems to cope nicely even near flat surfaces with a shell of only 0.8 mm this was only 4M of plastic. which was nice.

Cool to shine lights through it too! i got lazy with cleaning up the model from maya and deleted some polys near the eye by mistake, and forgot to add them back! not sure how people export partial objects from catch but i find its a bit tricky to give it shell thickness exporting directly from catch as the normals are insane when you extrude them out on the inner side. I normally use 3DSMAX shell inwards which creates a waaaay more messy polygon arrangement but doesn't spike out insanely but extrudes easily and cleanly with no spiking like maya which does leave things smooth (apart from the spikes).

    This is my latest print:

    554a3bb623060.jpg

My newborn daughter gets relaxed when she's hearing music from the Vikings Tv Show (from History channel, if you didn't watch I highly recommend it).

So what's better than printing her a Viking Helmet? Nothing

It was printed with a bad spool of PLA, so it's under-extruded at some areas, and i changed the retraction settings so it's a bit stringy on the horns but who cares it's for the fun of it.

It was printed with the awesome Olsson block with a .8mm nozzle at 0.3mm layers. Just took 6h30 to print!

Have you tried something like a fix horrible X in Cura? There are a few different variations, but they intend to stitch holes etc.

You can find it under Expert settings > Fix horrible

    Good luck!

    Great job @gr5!

Good to see you are also involved in this amazing project.

Do you usually ship them out like this or do you also assemble them sometimes?

I have assembled 2 so far. I was asked to just print the parts this time which was welcome request for me because the printing is easier than the assembling. They will be used at an "assembly party" I am told.

There is no significant wear yet. May be because I didn't print much more than theese 3 little guys.

All in all I printed less than half a spool of it.

But to be honest I don't care about the nozzle - when it is worn out it will be replaced, it's easy ;)

which is total crap, as it requires to be logged in to the forum.

An email makes much more sense as I don't want to 'check the bell' frequently.

one more bad point regarding the new community... :(

    sorry for beeing OT.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
