It's difficult to tell clearly from your pictures what's going on, but it looks like your top surfaces are too thin, and you need to increase the retraction length, and maybe the speed as well.

What's that transparent blue stuff?  how you stretch it so tight and perfect?

The transparent blue stuff is translucent plastic sheet of 0.3 mm thick. I actually use 2 sheets from which I airbrush 1 with ink to the color I want and put that sprayed layer between the 2 sheets for protection.

Due to the thickness of the sheet which is not stretched but just fixed into place with the printed parts.

Here my project has been growing over the last 2 weeks.

I first made sections with one glass and I coupled them

And now it is the final size and very difficult to move:)

And here it belongs as you see the station still needs a lot of work

    But it is getting somewhere.

Trying out ColorFabb Dutch Orange with the elephant model

Ultimaker Original. 210C, 50mm/sec, On Left is 0.1mm (no support/brim) Right is 0.2mm with support and brim (and I was too lazy to clean it all off)

How's this look? Any tweaks for improvements?

@lepaul for higher quality slow it down to 30mm/sec and that model doesn't need any support. Also if your bowden moves a bit (try pulling on it) then increase your retraction by the amount it moves - so maybe 5.5mm instead of 4.mm retraction?

@viralata is that ABS processed with acetone vapor? Or PLA submerged in acetone? Or something else?

@gr5 Here's my default settings...4.5 on the retraction. The Bowden tube is in there snug (I had to replace the Bowden tube, collar and retaining clip a few months ago) Again, Ultimaker Original

I thought it would be acetone vapour due to the slightly lumpy look. nice model though. Im taking a rest from zbrush for now, and doing some cute houses.

one of many. still a few issues with intersecting geometry around the window frames and such but I'm sure i can sort that out fairly easily. will smooth it up and spray it later.

Thank you for that....yes, I have printed and use one of those clips on the extruder! I had issues with the Bowden trying to lift up from the extruder (noisy!) and someone suggested that part addition.

Hi! Im print Pudge's head , im not a fan of dota but , for me , it's interesting that character. So , i model only the head but with my style using human anatomy mixed with the dota2 Style. It was model in Zbrush.

For the print material i use Ultimaker PLA Platinium.

Next time throw it in some acetone for 35 seconds spray some plastic primer and then paint it. It will look a lot better. Good model though.

Painting 3d printed stuff without an undercoat or primer is crazy and will always give worse results.

This is a small model I made to test out different types of PLA and learn how to use Cura more effectively. The cube is 1/2" in height, this particular one is printed at 100 micron, 20mm/sec, 190 temp using Ultimaker Gray/Silver PLA. I am really pleased with the detail we are getting on our small Ultimaker 2 Go we put in our office. IMG_2343.thumb.jpg.07cdb74b1c1923c7a8760bf823963d04.jpg

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
