Still cant seem to print a smooth top surface though? even with 110% flow. Its like the lines just don't touch, This is where ABS seems to do a better job for me, but considering all the stuff i need it for is flattish and i don't have time for re-prints i just have to push on.

my electrics controller box i printed out for my mate helping me.

Not sure, but two lines always seem to go perfect then the third is slightly further away causing the break in top surface. No matter what temp or resolutiuon??? its the only thing i havent cracked with this printer!

ah yes, it kinda does look like a pattern.

Maybe one of your pulleys has a hole which is not completely in the center and it forces one of your rods to kinda wobble? (if this is not the solution either, please open up a new thread if you want to continue the search!) :)

@cloakfiend - you have printed this lamp?! That is outstanding, then. It would be very interesting to see a close-up if possible.

always nice a little photo investigation...

    - must be a recent photo, I see white colorfabb boxes.

    - the 5th gen makerbot is put aside as it never worked.

    - they went thru another 3 makebots before they finally figured out were to get a good printer.

Yep its all printed, ill post close ups when i'm working on them next i don't have them at the moment still doing a bit of soldering. its printed in halves over the wire and then superglued. then scraped and filled and sanded. and then sprayed with gloss white. The top is also two separate parts.  Heres the plate on the printer....

    the tops bits...

don't worry I am a fan of high rez photography you'll get it, lol. my 60d is at home and all this is at work with the printer. my phone just doesn't like taking photos close up or any kind of macro photos.

Also PLA doesnt take kindly to photography and generally looks poor either way, no matter what the quality. Itll look better after acetoning.

Here is a bigger gnome, sorry for the poor quality phone photo (at least theres some dof in the back! lol) ;)still got some lines and such as i printed it 50mm/s (rather than 30 which would look near perfect) and did no post work at all (i did sand the hat a bit!) other than the acetone dip. i recommend a brisk sand over the trouble areas before hand. Also if i left it in for a bit longer it would also be a bit better. but ill go into that on my acetone thread rather than jabber about it here.

Looks nicely printed, thats a lot of nozzles, I have been using the same one that it shipped with for the last year, lol. and It doesn't do a good job at printing 0.2mm layers for me. I guess when i buy my own one ill have to experiment with the different sizes and their benefits of speed vs quality vs detail.

So that's the best thing you can come up with for a clone army? Are you planning on subjugating us with laughter?

    Gorgeous work!

I'm sick of these gnomes now, no more cloning, I assembled and prepped 27 gnomes that evening, printed in about two days at 50mm/s 0.06. I just had to take a photo as they got sent off for painting and I wont see them like that again. I don't plan on ever printing any gnomes EVER again. Unless i do something stupid with them. I hope you prefer the photography and camera I'm using @Danilius.

I have been working on a youtube show called Logos to Life for the past year and my ultimaker 2 has been right in the center of these videos.  I have posted a few of the episodes here, but it's been a long time since I had a chance to come back and post more.  I really fell in love with this forum last year, so I wanted to make sure to get back here and share these with you guys.  Anyway, here are the videos I have done this year.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
