Can't show my other cool stuff yet... but I made this new fan shroud. My old one had like 1mm of space between the centerblock, so it dipped down a tiny bit, it got caught on a part I was printing for like 2 hours at the last 10% and the motor skipped a beat! So infuriating that I closed up all the tolerances on this new one and redesigned it.

It's overall nicer, super tight tolerances, blows downward rather than onto my nozzle and has like a 3x bigger opening so air doesn't escape the back as much.

Now it gets close, is super solid but doesn't touch the build platform! Only time will tell how it performs, but currently already better I think.

I can't even imagine what I would do if a 78 hour print failed at 90%. Don't do it Ian! It's not worth the paranoia!

Ok, i have one for you Ian.

It was my like, 3rd dual color print i made about 2 weeks ago.

I was pretty satisfied with the quality. Except for the bottom i hardly had to clean up anything.

A few 'worms' on one side, but they were easily removed.

That's awesome. Can't wait to see more duel colour prints as people build their kits!

Hope it's not like my microwave. It only starts sometimes, if you open and slam the door a few times. Sometimes that adds a minute. or 10.

Best of luck though! see you in 3 days!

I 'modeled' it on Tinkercad (steal a mouth and nose from other objects ;) ). It's only half a cone, the back has some kind of rectangle holder to hold the legs of the glasses. I'll try to upload the .stl if you're interested (and only if you wear glasses B) )

Printed 2 letters today. I am trying to figure out if its worth the time to do the whole alphabet and put it on youmagine. The B is printed in colorfab blue-ish white.

Made my bro's favorite character from a webcomic for his b-day.

    Based on this guy:

    Belkar.jpg

    002-Belkar-682x1024.jpg

    005-Belkar-1024x682.jpg

Painted with acrylics, I tried putty + sanding like a user here suggested. it kinda worked. I dont think I was generous enough with the putty though. some parts of it ended up pretty smooth, other parts, hard to get into grooves.

    moar pics.

    Big statue li-ben-ty!

I also made these 2 prints a couple of days ago.

They are printed with dual extrusion set up, personally i think this is proof that the D.E. set up does not negatively effect your print quality.

I like it how even after 2 years (and working at Ultimaker), sometimes the quality still impresses you.

Printed this 2 nights ago - subject chosen because I have NYC on my mind as Maker Faire is coming up in 9 days.

I'm thinking about making a smartphone case and this is an experiment to see if it works. It worked better than I expected and if I just repair the kapton tape rips on my bed, it will come out perfect.

Click on image for details of how I made it but quick summary - used lithopane software then flipped it so that the part sticking up is now sticking down. Turned off support and cranked the "flow" when printing the white, second layer. Flow back to normal on 3rd layer. It's a hack, I know but it came out good enough and will come out better next time.

    new experiment with single extruder

    Hi George,

great print! I like both the style and quality.

@ Ian: Print time was for both just under 10 hours, like 8-10 hours.

Printed at 80 micron, dual fans.

    I am not a hasty guy, so i usually print at 45mm/s - 50mm/s.

Both printed without support, approx 10% infill.

    Dual extrusion cat.

    model:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:62536

I did have to remove a few PLA strings but this was easy and not too much work. Very happy with the result!

I wish the photo gallery would also give option for an medium sized picture (640x480) this would be great for the forum.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
