I didn't actually expect to share this print, as I was going for a failure :)

Seriously; I've been running tests with my new Teflon+Vespel isolator (http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/7024-teflon-spacer-replacement/?p=71524) and my tests with both PLA and ABS went fine. I decided to try with Ultimaker's Flex PLA and it worked fine. So, to find the limits, I decided to print something which certainly wouldn't work out:

https://www.youmagine.com/designs/3d-anniversary-roses

I scaled the open rose to be 150% of the original size - here is the outcome:

last layers being printed

ready, on UM2 print bed

The feel of the rose reminds of the ones made of leather; here's a photo of the rose with a clothespin:

with clothespin

Had the print been made with ABS or PLA, I would point out to some of the flaws myself, but now I'm just amazed. The leaves are so soft and flexible that I would have bet on them to fail well before getting the print half way ready.

This is one of the moments when I really feel the magic of 3D printing and my UM2 (with "minor" mods). I'm happy :)

Took me forever to do this. And it is still rougher than I would have liked.   3D concept rendering:   Finished piece:

Bath interferometers.  I have made about 20 of these for people who use them to test their telescope mirrors.  They are amazingly accurate and can do better than a $40,000 Zygo PSI optical tester.  Th

I just finished this. It was a multi-part print for ease of painting. Some of it I am not sure what happened...but hey, it is purty....And, I am unanimous in that ? Test Render Parts

"failed prints" due to ejection of sim card can be "continued". Most important thing is to keep the bed hot while you research what to do as if the bed cools the part will often pop off the bed. Then you can go cry and sleep and then continue the print on a fresh new day.

    continuing/resuming failed print:

I haven't posted in a while, but I was wondering if there might still be an interest in the Dremel workstation I created and vigorously tested? I totally redesigned it trying to make it mostly printed parts with less hardware. All that's needed now is some 1/4" all-thread, (5) 1/4" nuts, and a 3' length of 10mm rod. The dremel is the 200 model, which is the cheaper one.

Here's a pic of the completed 3D model.

Chrisp: I would have use for it, providing I can get everything on your BoM. I'm assuming those axis aren't printed :)

    This is the BOM:

(2)-10mm Dia. metal Rods 18" in length recommended

    (5)-1/4" nuts

    (1)-98mm 1/4" all-thread

    (1)-88mm 1/4" all-thread

    (1)-55mm 1/4" all-thread

    (1)-35mm 1/4" all-thread

    (1)-608 bearing (optional)

I originally designed the first and second version with linear bearings and wanted to get away from them, but I can add slots for them to this carriage if needed.

Been super busy.. but I guess that's the good thing about printers, you do your thing and they do theirs.

I made a ginormous barrel. Failed twice at around 18 of 22 hours :/ one was user error and the other was a clog. But it finally finished! As big as my buildplate would allow on the UMO.

I usually make them this big:

Does it function or is it a prop? I can't imagine it working.

It functions as a nametag & container (not for whiskey). Usually I put poop bags in there so she carries them around during walks because I always forget them.

The tap acts as a locking mechinism, turn it 90 degrees and the lid pops off.

Usually it's the phone number. They got microchips for the address. :p I don't know many times my beagle has run away and someone calls to come get her. The entire building staff knows my beagle by name and sometimes brings her back to the office.

    @IRobertI

that was the plan, but i´m still searching for some clear slime that looks wet after drying...

May be i could use that stuff, that scalemodllers use for waterdioramas, don´t know.....

Try a product called perma-wet. I use it in a lot of sculptures to give that "fresh out of the water" look. http://www.monstermakers.com/product/perma-wet-gloss-coating.html

Started a new sculpture in about 1/5 scale.

Will post some WIP pictures here to put some pressure on myself to get it finished.

The inspiration is a drawing by Frazetta.

A first image that I posted on the theClubhouse to get some first impressions on the pose.

    GirlPondWIP01 small

Then a more refined version, ready for print.

Hair and ground will be printed a little smaller in size as I will add a layer of 2 component sculpting clay for the detailing.

    GirlPondWIP02

    Finally, all the printed parts.

Work now continues with filling, sanding and sculpting.
