Bath interferometers.  I have made about 20 of these for people who use them to test their telescope mirrors.  They are amazingly accurate and can do better than a $40,000 Zygo PSI optical tester.  Th

I just finished this. It was a multi-part print for ease of painting. Some of it I am not sure what happened...but hey, it is purty....And, I am unanimous in that ? Test Render Parts

I like the blade more than the handle..... but.. whatever.

Yes, but you are also openly experimenting with Aceton ;)

@Jens, how does the handle feel in your hand?

Is it strong enough to apply force while using the blade?

The handle doesn't feel as nice as softish magnolia wood (which is kind of standard for everyday-knives of that kind) in that it becomes a little more slippery if there is some fat. Other than that it comes surprisingly close to a real wood feel. The material* is tough/strong enough to take loads of abuse, but not as stiff as wood - you wouldn't notice while using the knife, but when willingly trying to bend the handle. What I really don't like is the plasticy sound ...

That all said, I mainly made and mounted that handle to try if I like the octagonal shape (compared to oval or D-shaped handles that also are very common on that sort of knives).

    * Wood filament from 3dprima (discontinued, I think) with unknown plastic component ... behaves a little like some sort of PA/Nylon, while maybe being slightly stiffer; doesn't stick to any kind of bed; shrinks/bends like there was no tomorrow; very good bonding between layers

Amazing! Do you do much post-processing to your prints?

Is it possible that the "plasticy sound" is caused by the very light weight? You could add some sand or something part way through the print to fix the sound maybe?

My last print: an icospher collar for my wife. Printed with bronze fill. I didn't sand it because I wanted the printing lines to stay visible and give a more "handmade" style. I polished more the edges and less the faces. Modelled in blender (modeling was quite fast in fact: add an icosphère, add an array modifier with an empty to change the scale and a boolean modifier to make the holes):

    Hi Viralata!

Does you wife have problems with her skin when she wear it?

i had printed a ring but it couldnt wear it due to the bronze poisoning.

    cheers!

I've been working on a Harley Quinn bust with stand recently. I've fixed the hood, removed the support and filled some imperfections. Just lots of priming and sanding to do now!

Thicker walls and a higher infill rate did help a bit (I tried to make another one for fun).

Printed this for my daughter to paint. They're out for school so whenever one of the printers is free I throw something on for them to paint.

Haven't posted here in a while,

I had an order for a Stargate I haven't made in a long time, and I lost one of the parts molds,

so I thought why not print it and make a new mold :)

    Printed in PLA white

    IMG_1664.JPG

cleaned up the part, made 10 copies (1 extra), in tinted resin.

    unnamed.jpg

and painted these in the same paint scheme as the rest of the Stargate.

    IMG_1663.JPG

and whole gate, just to show off :)

    IMG_1662.JPG

The Stargate is 1 meter (40") in diameter
