How do I know what the layers are to use it? I guess I am vague on the documentation provided (PDF)...so for now, I'll try turning it off in Cura and do a test print

Ok, so i downloaded the plug in, placed it in the Cura folder, fired it back up.

I went to the Plug-Ins, highlighted it and down arrow. I saw Cura do some work but now it sort of sits at this screen, not sure if the progress bar should complete or what? (I also put the Combing setting back to All in Advanced)

Can someone detail how these plug-ins should work? Never used one before

The plug-in takes some time to process. I tried it on last week's contest model with starting and ending Z values of 1 and 10 respectively and it added just shy of 30 seconds (with MY current Cura settings). I never saw the "RetractWC..." text in Cura though.

There is a documentation available on the Github page I posted the link of. Maybe that helps?

@xisle: For whatever reasons displaying the name of the plugin sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, even with the very same installation.

I guess, we are a bit off-topic here in the 'latest print section'. Maybe this thread would be suitable to continue if there are any more things to discuss about the RetractWhileCombing plugin.

Sorry I've been MIA for the past year

My work has been depleting my creative juices :p

Speaking of work, my co-workers can get pretty rowdy at times. And since the stock nerf guns didn't do the trick, I had to upgrade mine (+10 to intimidation)

I promise I'm working on something cool in the meantime, just can't show it yet :p

Think the top pic shows a lot of cross contamination. ...

What's the size of the other parts? Are they so small the 'other' nozzle is not hovering over them?

How do you prevent leaking? Let the nozzle cool between every change?

Yep, I suspect the top one is printed with HIPS and is just a support material. Personally, I never had any luck using dual extrusion (or having any real application). It always seems to cross-contaminate materials (unless you increase retraction). But the cone looks nice and clean

Yeah cross contamination is there but it is actually from the active nozzle rather than the inactive one. It's possible to improve that but isn't a major issue in these prints since it just gets stuck in support material and it will be removed.

The Parts are big the photos that has both pieces printed, occupies more than half build plate in one direction.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
