How do you prevent the case from wobbling if you print it vertically, as i get wobbling if i print to high and too thin, especially near the top?

You can increase the brim size, or manually add some stabilization supports in a 3d modeller program like Blender. Also, slowing it down once you get higher helps.

Slowing a thin model can give a step in the finished product as the filament runs hotter and it extrudes more then the previous layers.

Dropping the temp to suit you can risk more banding and even under extrusion as the temp under shoots before it comes back up to temp.

Hello cool thread, long time no see :)

Here is one of my latest monster prints. Every triangle piece weights around 120g. My UM2 is a trooper. I've constantly printed at 260° for weeks and it is still alive (lost some PTFE couplers during that time but it was expected). Material is colorFabb XTCF-20.

Not exactly my latest print as I made this 2 years ago now. Printed on my trusty UM2 + UMO. It was an architectual style presentation model to go in Stark Towers in 'Avengers Age of Ultron'. The top part is mostly 3d modelled in Fusion 360 and printed. The lower part was all laser cut from Acrylic. It took me about 4 weeks and appears in the film for about 1/2 a second!

Wow, beautifull!! It actually appeared in the movie?? Now I have to watch it again!

Was it used as a prototype or as the actual building thunderbirds style? :p

You should upload it as a 3D print as well so it will not disappear from the radar from page 153 on..

Sander, yep it's in the movie, for less than a second!

I think It is seen behind Cobie Smulders when she is talking to the Avengers over video link.

I will sort out uploading it as a 3d print.

I must dig out some stuff from Spectre and Guardians of the galaxy to show you guys.

Really impressive reallife-work 3d print. Not only it's cool, it's really nice finished.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
