As the title indicates, I'm trying to cut/paste start and end commands in the 'machine settings' windows, but Cura won't allow cut/copy/paste operations there. All the other slicers I've used treat this area as a simple text file that can be edited with typical text editing controls, but no joy in Cura.

This seems an important ability to have, to help ease accurate code additions pulled from other configurations, and also to ease duplicating settings across multiple computers that are all used to slice files for the same printer(s). The area I'm talking about is here:

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? I did try searching the archives for answers but got nothing within the 1st few pages of returns, using several different search criteria.

Thanks for any help!

I've never had a problem copying/pasting text into those boxes (other than when the "Settings Guide" addon sees me hovering over the box and takes over the whole window; the solution to that is just to increase the size of the window). If you're able to replicate it you should definitely submit a bug report and tell those of us who are dying of curiosity here how to do it 🙂

Hmmm.... Maybe I'm not hold'n my mouth right or something? Cura 5.8.1, multiple different printers, on a Win10 computer and a Win11 computer; same results for me on both. Editing (deleting or adding text) is no problem, but no mouse right-click menus show up for me. So, I can't copy the list of G commands to save for future use, nor can I paste previously copied text into the boxes.

If you can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd be grateful.

There's no right click menu, but the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+X for cut, Ctrl+C for copy and Ctrl+V for paste) all work fine.

(As do some others, like Ctrl+Z/Ctrl+Y for undo/redo.)

    What? There are keyboard shortcuts?

    😉

Seriously, I've been so long using the mouse that I forgot the way to use the keyboard.

Thank you; I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Followup: Your advice worked like a charm, as I'm sure you knew it would. Thanks for the prodding. 😉
