These forums absolutely crush image quality so it's nigh impossible to figure out stuff from screenshots most of the time - so putting the two side by side in a single file is great in theory 👍 but bad in practice 😞

If you could post a Cura project file (.3mf, get it set up then go to File > Save Project) of it in Cura that will include your printer and quality settings so we can have a look through them and try and figure out what's going on.

I don't like that model.  First of all it has over a million (A MILLION!!!!) faces.  That's excessive. I would decimate it using meshlab but that won't fix your problem.  I think 10k faces is plenty for that model. You would think it was a life size model of every switch and knob and screw on a spaceship.  Not this simple model.  But that's not the problem - that's just why it takes so long to slice.

The problem seems to be that you have holes in the model.  I'm not certain but the model has problems.  When models like this have problems it's almost always built in blender or sketchup.  Neither of those are great at making printable models - they mostly are good at making visual models - not physical things.  Almost certainly this was made in blender. I mean an blender expert who has made models for 3d printing should know the tools and tricks but I guess not this one.

I would first decimate the mesh down to maybe 50k or 10k faces and then repair the model with one of many online services.  I'll wait to see what Greg is about to say.  Oh but you have a solution (orca slicer) so you are all set.  Cura team doesn't feel it's their job to write model repair software as you can find plenty of those online for free and some are not free.  Cura is meant to slice working models.

Orcaslicer must have some model repair code built in maybe?  Model repair code doesn't always work.

This is the X-ray view of the model in 5.9.0 beta 2.  There are numerous errors in the model.

The same determination was made by MS 3D Builder.

When I slice the project in 5.9.0beta2 there are some missing layers on the legs.  That is often because there are duplicate surfaces in the model.

Meshmixer isn't too fond of the legs either.

It appears that both OrcaSLicer was able to fight through the model errors where Cura could not.  Cura will not slice this model correctly unless repairs are made to the model.

For some reason, articulated models seem to suffer from this even though many pieces are just copies.  In the image above - the first section of the left leg looks fine but the first section of the right leg shows errors.  It's likely they started out as the same piece.

This is in PrusaSlicer.  With supports turned on this model is only 13 layers tall.  The model errors are affecting the slice.

Neither MS 3D Builder nor MeshMixer was able to repair the model.  I think if you want to print this then OrcaSlicer is the tool to use.
