Hallo Community,

Was mache ich falsch?

Uwe

I hope you don't mind a reply in english. I'll try to write with perfect spelling and grammer so this will translate well.

To print over USB on UM2 you need to go into machine settings and change the gcode flavor:

in PREPARE mode at top of screen click on the printer, then "Manage Printers".  Then "Machine Settings" button, change gcode flavor to "Marlin".  That's it.

Printing over USB is not officially supported because it's easy for bits to get dropped and your print to get ruined but 80% of the time it works perfectly.  Often, however, you need to buy a USB powered hub (with separate power supply) to boost the USB signals.  Or use a well made USB cable.  Or try a different computer.

I recommend you spend the 10 euros for a 4GB uSD card.  Make sure to go back to Ultimaker2 printing afterwards.  One interesting feature is then you control some settings on the printer and not in cura: bed temp, nozzle temp, retraction speed, retraction length, fan multiplier.  The idea was to be able to print the same gcode file with different filament types.

Thx, that was the solution. But, then is the default printer Profile in Cura wrong. Why ist there not Marlin from the beginning? Why does not Ultimaker fix? I'am sure, that I'am not the only person in the world who crash there.

Thats a interesting fact with the parameters in the printer, but as i've startet the print from the sdCard, the small screen say, that the settings in the printer will be ignore for this printjob.

May be i must aktivate/deaktivate a funktoin to allow the printersettings to the material and ignore the CURA-Settings?

Now there is my first print on the UM2+, and the Banchee needs 5h by 120%. Hmmm, i Think it's very slow. Nozzle 0,4mm and 0,1Layer. If I right remember, my i3MAX neeu 1,5h.

of cause, the new X1 only 20min.

Only needs set to Marlin for printing over USB.. which as was said, not recommended in the first place.

As for speeds.. you do realize the UM2+ is 8yr old printer right? it came out in 2016..

I suspect the UM2 will out last the other printers but I don't know for sure.  At least assuming you use it every day so are motivated to oil it once every 500 hours of printing or so and you replace the teflon part at a similar schedule (every 500 to 1000 hours).
