Posted · Sliding block collides with nozzle switch bay

After an unfortunate material flood, I had to replace the print head and one of the sliding blocks. After doing so and while at it, replacing all sliding blocks, I noticed the sliding block is colliding with the nozzle switch bay. With some force, it will pass through deforming both the switch bay and the rod, but I strongly believe this does affect printing quality.

I've checked;

- The spacers are tightly pressed to the sidewalls of the printer, so there is no play there

- The right spacers (8mm I think) are between the pulleys and the side wall

- I've noticed there is quite some tolerance on the thickness of the sliding block, the new one is 14,5 mm thick, while the older one was is 13,7 (which was located on the other side) mm thick, but both seem to collide even though the latter one with less friction.

I do not know if the original sliding block, which is now broken, also collided.

Can anyone help me find a solution or tell me if the colliding is acceptable?

    Colliding is not normal although on my S5 the clearance is surprisingly tight. If it seems to print fine otherwise, I think the simplest solution is to try to add a small shim/spacer under the switch bay bracket? Its just held on by 1 screw through the side panel so very easy to remove.

    I was also thinking about putting a spacer between the bay and the wall and it seems to work

    It really shouldn't be colliding. Is it possible one of the pulleys is installed the wrong way around, throwing off the spacing?

    That's a good one, all the setting screws are supposed to be on the outer side right? Near the sidewalls of the printer.

    The pulley on the gantry for the short X motor belt faces the opposite way from everything else. The other ones should all be pulleys towards the wall. I've got a video if you want to take a look at the order for the spacers and pulleys:
