Thumbnails can be especially tricking depending on the printer manufacturer - personally I don't bother since I print by filename anyway (and half the files on my card are just minor iterations of settings where you wouldn't see any difference).
If you could tell us what printer you have, post a Cura project file of something (anything really, .3mf, something ready to print then go to File > Save Project) as well as a gcode file which won't print we can try and examine the issue further.
