Posted (edited) · Extruder mashes into prime blob - why?

Hi all!

For as long as we have it, our Ultimaker S5 has been squirting out a nice prime blob (when so configured), then pushing the hot end right into it instead of moving away from the pile. This seems so obviously stupid and easily fixable that there *must* be a smart reason for this behavior to persist thoughout years and countless firmware updates. Please enlighten me. We use Cura under Windows.

Kind regards

M

Posted · Extruder mashes into prime blob - why?

I'm glad someone else mentioned this - I've wondered why the action isn't to lift away versus the mash it to the bed approach.

In fairness, it seems to work - I haven't seen many instances across 7 machines where the prime blob becomes a long string that affects the first layer of the print.
