Cura 14.03 - Fan full on at height 0.5mm

The title says it all. I remember the defaults were at 5mm for previous versions.

Don't know what to make of this setting though. Never had problems when enabled at 0.5mm or 5mm. Just thought I'd mention it.

    5mm is too high for many prints - especially if there are overhangs within 1mm of the beginning. I prefer 1mm as then there are 5 to 10 layers to gradually pick up fan speed. Turning it on too quickly lowers the nozzle temp quite a bit for a minute.

    Everything is a trade off right?

    My local High School got a CubeX printer - it's nice but the slicer has about 5 settings. For example there are only 3 allowed layer heights. Versus Cura which has something like 100 settings. I prefer Cura.

    I'm with gr5 on this one, I lowered mine to 1mm as well. 5mm is way too high for most prints IMHO. It's even worse with the default 75C bed temp (why is this still the default!?).

    And it's not only with overhands. If you print a simple cylinder you will often see a change in diameter on the lower parts of the print which can be a huge problem if your part is dimension critical.
