How to remove support material from object in a clean way?

Hi. Under here is picture of nut cracker I made.

Now all of you small artisans. What kind of tools do you use to remove support material without damaging object itself?

    A small file or some sand paper wrapped around my finger. Wetsand paper works quite nicely as the added water helps keep the plastic cool as you sand it.

    I'm not convinced this part really needs support in that print orientation. If I did want support, I'd add something custom using meshmixer to just support the very top parts of the overhangs.

    Hi. Thanks for tips. I assume file is for rough surface and wet sandpaper for small detail/polishing.

    Meshmixer look really intresting. I need to take better look on it later.

    Sometimes I use a regular lighter to get rid of the 'white-ish' looking parts were the support material used to adhere to the model. Just a second in the flame works well.

    If filing then some baby oil will bring back the lustre to the filament
