Dunno if you heard already, but:

Now, this could have a huge impact on faster development of 3d printing technology. What I don't like about this though is the market monopoly in the making. I don't expect prices of professional machines to drop when it seems that soon there will be only one company making 3d printers...

On the other hand, what do we all care, we can do 20 microns, they can't. :lol:

3d systems is buying other companies as if they were donuts lately

The other major (plastic) 3d printing companies competing are Object, Stratsys and Eos but I believe they are much smaller than 3d systems now.

What worries me is that you can't really see much of a drop in prices for commercial 3d printing technologies over past years. In fact prices even increased last year. And monopolies don't help here.
