Clipboard error

Whenever I copy and paste (in other programs) not intending to paste things into cura, Cura always errors the following way:

pythonw Error

Failed to get data from clipboard (error -2147221040: openClipboard failed)

I guess I could just close cura while working on other things, but... multi-tasking!

    While I know where this popup comes from, I cannot seem to prevent it. It's cura scanning the clipboard for Cura_profile strings. But it throws this error if the clipboard is locked at exactly the right time by another application.

    (Maybe I should scrap the whole feature...)

    Yes, It's starting to become rather annoying... probably becasue I always have about 6 instances of Cura running on the workstation. I'll copy something for emails, etc, and get the error warning which forces the Cura error window to pop up.

    A workaround can be, open "c:\program files (x86)\Cura 14.07\Cura\gui\mainWindow.py" in a simple text editor, find the lines that say:

    #Timer set; used to check if profile is on the clipboard

    self.timer = wx.Timer(self)

    self.Bind(wx.EVT_TIMER, self.onTimer)

    self.timer.Start(1000)

    self.lastTriedClipboard = profile.getProfileString()

    (Around line 268)

    And delete the "self.timer.Start(1000)" line.

    Nallath, you get an "A" for effort!

    Thanks Daid, I will try that.

    well, it didn't work for me...

    In notepad, I opened mainwindow.py and deleted the line "self.timer.Start(1000)"

    When I tried to open Cura, it hangs on the blue splash screen.

    Luckily, I remembered to back up mainwindow.py

    What did I do wrong? Can you not use windows text editor to make those edits..

    Notepad might have messed something up... wordpad or notepad++ would have been a better option. As what I see in your notepad does not look like lines, but a big blob of text...

    OK, wordpad was much nicer. Worked like a charm, so yeah, notepad bad :)

    will this also work for 14.09?

    Thanks Daid

    Yep, same code, nothing changed there.

    Awesome, thanks a lot Daid,

    And thanks for all the hard work you guys put into Cura. I design models for customers, who often have Makerbots, so I have to load models into Makerware to test, and make sure they can print it fine, etc. I honestly don't see how makerbot owners do it.

    So yeah, keep up the good work
