Single extruder many colors

I saw this article about a unit that is extruder independent that combines multiple colored filaments. Has anyone seen one? Iit is by Mosaic mfg

    Yes it works, yes you can do it yourself by cutting the material.

    The only thing I find really interesting is the piece of software behind it, that apparently calculates and designs a wipe tower so you can have actual dual color in a print in the same layer.

    Still a waste of filament though

    and there's also a smaller version of the builder, saw it at Makerpoint (local store in Arnhem NL, if I remember I think the print quality was nice and I liked the transition of colors ... but the printhead is big and heavy so I would think not a machine for high speeds.

    I saw the big builder in action at the 3d printshow in Paris, it was printing a vase with blue and white, it looked pretty cool, the color transition works very nicely but i hear it's tricky to slice (a lot of editing by hand of the gcode is needed)
