No Support printed on CURA 14-11-RC8

Hi

I have a new Part to print which requires Support Material printed in the middle where a Bearing is inserted but the Support is not sliced. Tha first Layer shows the Base for Support but the following Layers are enpty.

Do I miss a hidden setting or is this a Bug?

Hello Christian

I think your support structure is less then 0.42mm thick. Cura ignores everythings thinner then around that.

i cannot download the model, tryed several times..

well, i tought the base would probably be thicker, as this is the usual way to make support stable but not of to much material

Maybe Kisslicer thickening the part instead of ignoring when to small..?

@ Ultimaker - Wouldn't that be a good new button in cura to make too small stuff just the smallest amount possible instead of ignoring it?

Right click and "save as".. Its not an RC8 issue, as I looked at it in 14.09 and its the same.. Infact, I would say that 14.11 does a slightly better job creating a couple of support 'columns'.

But I am no expert, so I will leave this to someone else to answer.

@jweaver i did but it says failed to download everytime

are we speaking about pre generated support-structure (as i was thinking) or internal cura generated support?

They are CURA generated.. They are cyan coloured.. And go away when you turn supports off.

I was able to download the stl no problem.

It's a pretty small overhang so I guess cura gets confused? In cura 14.09 it supports 1/3 of the overhang but not the rest. I played around with the support settings and couldn't get it to support the overhang all the way around.

I would build my own support in cad - a cylinder supporting that brim on the inner edge. With gaps to make it easier to snap off. 0.9mm thick. Or if you don't have the cad model use meshmixer to generate support.

As a short Solution, I used Kisslicer to slice the Model. But I hope this will not be a Problem in the Future. What makes me wonder is that the first Layer shows where the Support should be.

Ok at my home computer it also works to download and i can see the problem now but can't tell you any other solution then the one you did and to do own support like gr5 said.
