Right now, if you want 64bit on windows, you'll best use a VM.

In the future, I want to provide a 64bit windows release as well. I can see that 80% of the users have a 64 processor. So that group is large.

@Daid: You make a big job! Sometime i wish the function to stop the auto-slice function. But you have said a lot of times that these function will not be implemented. You have your reasons and i will live with it. Please concentrate on the major things. :-)

@bot: I think it is sometime a good solution. I use a Mac and on the same maschine a bootcamp enviroment with Window 7. It is sometime really funny to see that you have different problems with the same software on different OS. My basically behavior is to use Mac OS for things with many polygons (big slice file >50mb) and if you have things with small wall use Windows.

please be nice to each other..

its a old discussion.. and also a fierce thorn in my eye since auto-slicing was born.

check the forum search function. ;)

I gave up using cura long ago.

precisely after i had to read daids post where he's first saying that he won't change this ever...

I always liked cura and still occasionally use it for small items like 3-5 qcm.

But for me its unusable for big and complex things

Everytime autoslice cuts into my workflow. i can't withstand to curse loud, like captain haddock.

..really annoys my coworkers.. but i can't help it. ;)

Lets just hope that we (the stoppers) still grow more and more in numbers.

By now, i really hoped the group of unsatisfied Cura users would have grow to a certain level so the developers would have been forced to re-implement that beloved "Stop" button already. ( cura once had a slice button.. )

sadly that just didn't happen yet. :(

    Wow

What a lively discusion, I Love it..

For someone who knows not a lot about 3d Printing, and I don't class myself as an idiot, but someone who has a steep learning curve to climb, Cura has helped me and others I suspect to start the climb. I would rather have a forum like the UM forum, than others I belong too. I can honestly say I have learnt a lot in the months I have been a member, and where there are problems with software and the Um2 printer I know they will be sorted, and looking at other printers ? and software I still would rather be in the camp I'm inn.

The wealth of knowledge and the ability to help when you need it has been the best experience. Thank You!!.

Yzorg, I think I'm in the same boat. I'm going to be getting a licence for S3D and using Cura for the times that S3d will fail me (because nothing is perfect, right?).

And yes, Nallath, at least I realize someone was kind enough to code a stop button (or however you'd like to call it). Here is the link for others not aware: http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/8574-cura-autoslicing-poll/?p=81528

Thanks again to everyone and sorry again for my confrontational attitude. It's almost like I knew what was coming and had to put up a hard front... or I'm just an "un-nice person." ;)

@bot - will see you in S3D threads then - by no means a perfect piece of software but it has advantages - but NO interaction with the developers :)

Hahaha yeah... I'm still wary about it. But you know as they say, if I'm a paying customer then I really have a reason to complain. :p

You do realize that someone made a stop button right? Ya know, one of the advantages of open source software ;)

i realised this within this post.. thx again.

    Forgive me my ignorance but..

i have absolutely no idea how to make use of that github link. it lacks a download button :)

Its waay beond my skills to make my own software... It gives me headache. i cant even follow the simplest tutorial on how to "compile" this random looking text into a working software on my mac.

If someone could do this for me i would be very thankful. :)

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
