Cutting an Ultimaker frame

I was thinking about laser cutting... but looking at the um2 step file the design needs to be altered as in some parts the dibond is not cut all the way through.

Besides cost would 6 mm solid aluminium be a good idea? Would certainly look cool...

I think weight is good (stable). Can i use the exact dimensions for the bearing holes our would i need a bit more margin on massif alu? I noticed in the um2 build manual the bearings are put in using a hammer...

I been reading your posts about cutting the frame. I do have a cnc machine and been thinking of cutting myself a frame out of alubond and acrylic plastics.

curious to see your result. Are you upgrading our building from scratch? Is your cnc big enough for um extended panels?

What I do not understand is why the file on Github there are 5mm and 6mm thicknesses ..when instead by measuring the original panels are all 6mm
