Cura - Now with improved quickprint profiles! (Up for testing)

Just wanted to make a correction so no one is misled.

This update is not the source of my problem. I have/had two:

- First the tension on the UMO feeder was too low.

- I use printed helical gears on my UMO feeder. The small gear worked loose leading to inaccurate retracts and I'm sure inaccurate recoveries.

In general either of the two problems above is enough to really screw up a print. But together, I'm surprised it didn't explode.

Still not convinced that my UMO can handle the high speeds in the new profiles but I'm sure my problems above have much more of an impact than the new speeds.

Is anyone seeing underextrusion with the new settings when three is moderate retraction?

For some reason the new speeds are too aggressive for my UMO and I get brief underextrusion after a retract and long move.

I had to dial the speed way down.

I can not drag and drop my .stl files from the explorer to Cura in 15.1 RC7. It just displays the forbidden sign. Loading via load button works however.

Frederik, this is most likely because when you install things, you need to have elevated/admin permissions and the installer is started under an admin account. When installers like the one Cura uses offer to launch Cura at the end, it too is run with elevated/admin privileges under the admin account.

Win7 won't let you drag/drop from a non-elevated process (Windows Explorer) to the elevated copy of Cura started by the installer or from one program under one user to a program running under a different user.

Simply restarting Cura gets it running under normal permissions so Drag/Drop works.

Ah, that's interesting. Let me check if I can change that, should just run Cura as user instead of admin after installing.

    Hi Daid

Every time I update Cura, the update notification window loads behind the main Cura screen. I have missed this sometimes and manually selected firmware update instead of the simpler update button on the notification window.

    I'm using OS X Yosemite.

    Hi,

today I installed Cura 15.01-RC7 and uploaded the firmware to the Ultimaker 2 of my local hackerspace. Printing works fine, but changing the filament doesn't work properly. The stepper motor that feeds the material goes bonkers (in both steps: removing and inserting material).

I switched back to the 14.09 version of the firmware and the behaviour disappeared immediately.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Edit:

Today I tried the firmwares that are shipped with cura version 15.01-RC8 and 14.12.1 and recorded videos of insertion and removal of material. The situation described above did not change.

    Edit 2: See https://github.com/Ultimaker/Ultimaker2Marlin/issues/59

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
